The Chief Rabbinate announced today (Monday) that it joins the call for ultra-Orthodox leaders to city rabbis not to grant kosher status to restaurants, eateries and businesses in other cities.

This, as proposed in the training reform of the Minister of Religious Affairs, Matan Kahana.

"According to Halacha and in accordance with the decision of the Chief Rabbinical Council, a rabbi may not grant kosher status other than in his place of office or in place of Mira Datra, except for those who have been authorized to do so by the Chief Rabbinical Council and do so."

The great rabbis in the ultra-Orthodox sector signed a letter this weekend, the contents of which were published for the first time in Walla!

Where they announced that city rabbis who would grant kosher to businesses or restaurants in cities where they do not serve would have their kosherness banned altogether.

This is despite the fact that the government's kosher reform, which went into effect on Tuesday, makes this possible.

In the draft letter that reached Walla!

It is written that the purpose of the reform promoted by Minister Kahana is to "impose controversy among the rabbis of Israel, by seeking to allow other rabbis to give kosher outside their place of residence and cause jealousy and competition with each other." Complete destruction of the entire kashrut system in the Holy Land. "

The Minister of Finance and Chairman of Yisrael Beiteinu, Avigdor Lieberman, attacked the rabbis yesterday following the letter.

"Your coercion will not work this time," Lieberman wrote.

"Boycotts will not work, training belongs to everyone and not just to one stream or another and I am sure that everyone knew how to decide for themselves what is right for them."

A hard blow to the conversion program.

The Chief Rabbinate also decided today to oppose the conversion plan promoted by Kahana. Rabbi Chaim Druckman, a senior member of religious Zionism who also participated in the yeshiva in a special way, joined the council's decisions in his signature. This is a severe blow to Kahana - who tried to enlist his support to advance the law.

"Recently, bills have come to the table of the Israeli government that aim to change religious matters in the State of Israel, one of which is a state conversion bill in Israel," the rabbinate wrote. "The conversion procedure is the entry ticket to be part of the Jewish people. This procedure is determined by halakhah. Any decision in this area must be approved by the Chief Rabbis of Israel and the Chief Rabbinical Council of Israel as well as the consent of the majority and building of rabbis in Israel and the Diaspora."

The Chief Rabbinical Council called for an immediate halt to the proposed conversion outline procedures.

"The proposal to split the uniform conversion system and establish different rules and different options to go through the conversion process entails a great danger," it was written.

"This outline will cause a significant rift in the people of Israel that cannot be reconciled. The proposed outline will split the Jewish people in Israel and around the world and lead to a situation of divided Judaism instead of united Judaism. Only a uniform conversion outline for all will ensure the integrity of the people."
