Although this is the first attempt in the world to date to offer a fourth dose of vaccine against the virus, nursing homes are also reporting high responsiveness. "We did a quick survey yesterday because we need to know how many vaccines to order, and the truth is I was not surprised but 80% of the chain's residents are interested in the vaccine," says Dr. Galit Kaufman, CEO of the Maccabi Group's Beit Balev sheltered housing network, in an interview with -103fm. "It's gratifying, I think it's the right decision. This is the most vulnerable and vulnerable population and sick, and not just in sheltered housing - we have rehabilitation and geriatric centers, which is an even more vulnerable and sick population and they are waiting to be vaccinated. They want to be protected."

Dr. Kaufman explained that MDA teams would reach out to the residents and vaccinate them on the spot in the sheltered housing units, while in the large geriatric medical centers the vaccination was done by the staff. She estimated that it would be possible to vaccinate those 80%, of the approximately 2,000 residents and patients in the network, "per day."

She explained that despite the concerns of some of the tenants, the response to the operation stems from a variety of reasons.

"Although the percentage is high but there are many who have questions," she said, "why do they want to get vaccinated? The side effects in the previous doses were not significant, it passed within a day or two. "We understand that this is the right direction. It is clear to everyone that there are no accurate and certain studies, but it is clear that there is a decrease in immunity and there is a decrease in the level of antibodies - so I hope they will vote with their feet and get vaccinated," she said.

Sheba Tel Hashomer Medical Center published a study yesterday stating that the fourth corona vaccine is safe to use, and the side effects that follow are similar to those seen in the first three vaccines.

The effective results of the increase in antibodies have not yet been obtained.

The study, which began last Monday, shows preliminary results regarding the safety of the fourth dose.

Thus, out of 154 vaccinated, about 80% reported mild local reactions, about 45% reported systemic symptoms including fever in 10% of cases that passed within 24 hours in most of them, weakness, muscle aches and headaches.
