Forward-looking topics are pending in the community of Gmund in 2022.

But the main thing is to come to terms with the corona situation.

It is gratifying that the pandemic does not burden the northernmost valley community too much, at least financially.

Gmund

- For town hall chief Alfons Besel (FWG), the subject of Corona is still at the top of the list of priorities.

"We are very concerned about our society, the youth and the children," says Besel.

“We have to try with all our resources to maintain childcare, the building yard and administration.

That is where my thoughts go primarily, that is a burden for us. ”In this context, the administration is currently in the process of creating the possibilities for hybrid meetings of the municipal council.

“We will try to get by with the simplest possible framework,” said Besel, saying that the material has been ordered.

He hopes this will be delivered in January and available for the next meeting.

Station area

The redesign of the station area is also a hot topic in 2022.

After the fundamental decision that the first step would be a new bus station (ZOB) and then car parking spaces and a bicycle parking facility, the municipal council groups will exchange views on the architectural office's revised drafts at the beginning of the year.

“The next decisions could already be made in January or at least the framework conditions laid down, at least that's the plan,” said Besel.

Living in old age

The community is pushing ahead with its senior housing project “at full steam”.

For January, appointments have already been made with the state-funded specialist center for living in old age in order to move forward with the property decision.

The residential project would be possible on a plot of land on Hirschbergstrasse or on Wiesseer Strasse next to the parking lot of the lido in Kaltenbrunn.

"In a small feasibility study, we want to analyze and evaluate which of these plots is suitable," explains the town hall chief.

"Then the local council has to make a decision so that we can start planning."

Bicycle friendliness

The municipality continues to pedal for the planned cycle path between Gmund and Hausham.

According to Besel, the last talks with property owners are taking place here.

Planning and implementation are in the hands of the Free State, i.e. the Rosenheim State Building Authority.

Construction is scheduled to begin in 2023.

“We're on the right track,” reports Besel, who doesn't want to lose sight of a cycle path between Gmund and Dürnbach.

The planning should also progress independently of the Otterfing-Gmund long-distance cycle route, which also includes this section of the route.

“We could definitely put an emphasis on this in advance,” believes Besel.

energy

Gmund has an energy use plan that shows ways of saying goodbye to fossil fuels.

The municipality is also part of the energy efficiency network.

Gmund is now tackling the first projects: photovoltaic systems are to be installed on the roofs of the primary school and building yard.

This is the top priority for Besel.

"It is unlikely that the systems will run as early as 2022."

Construction project

Two civil engineering projects are pending: the renovation of the forest path in Moosrain and the Seestrasse in Gmund.

"The Seestrasse in particular will be a challenge because of the large number of sections that are buried there and the limited space." Several bridge renovations are also on the agenda, the building yard needs a salt silo, "but you can't put that everywhere."

communication

There should be another digital citizens' meeting.

“Maybe even with a few participants,” says Besel.

In any case, work is being done to ensure local communication and exchange.

"It's not easy these days," says Besel, "but we are becoming increasingly familiar with digital events."

Finances

Corona has so far only brought minor losses to the community of Gmund.

“Our treasurer has always followed an economical and economical route, regardless of whether the times are good or bad,” emphasizes Besel.

“We therefore don't have to cross anything off the list of priorities and we can be completely satisfied.

A pseudo-wailing ", so the mayor," therefore I do not want to vote. "

The turn of the year is an opportunity to look ahead.

What will be possible in 2022 despite the ongoing pandemic, what has to be canceled for financial and corona-related reasons?

We asked around in the town halls.
