Berlin - The next Corona summit will take place next Friday (January 7th).
It is already clear that the federal and state governments will agree new corona rules on this date.
But what content is it about?
Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD) has already announced that a possible shortening of the quarantine periods would be up for debate.

Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD) is known as an eternal warning.
However, he had started the new year with cautious optimism.
The new Corona variant Omikron is much more contagious, but according to the current data situation, it causes significantly less severe processes, he said in a New Year's Eve show on ZDF.
The health expert therefore sees “light at the end of the tunnel” for 2022.
But before that happens, there is still a lot to do.

Tuesday (January 4th): The Federal Government's Expert Council is holding a video conference to discuss current issues relating to the corona pandemic.
Between Tuesday (January 4th) and Thursday (January 6th): Robert Koch Institute will make a recommendation to shorten the quarantine during the week.
Friday (January 7th): Bund-Länder meeting at which new corona resolutions are taken.
Since people are so easily infected with the Omikron variant, the country is facing new challenges in the fight against pandemics.
Even before Christmas, the German government's Corona Expert Council warned of extreme stress on the health system and the entire critical infrastructure if many people fell ill or had to be quarantined at the same time.
This affects areas such as the fire brigade, hospitals, but also the power supply.
A shortening of the isolation or quarantine periods is therefore in the room.
The Robert Koch Institute wants to make a recommendation to shorten the quarantine before the Corona summit.
The Bavarian Health Minister Holetschek (CSU) had suggested that boosted contact persons be exempted from the obligation to quarantine.
RKI calls for "immediate contact restrictions"
At the end of last year, the Robert Koch Institute demanded "immediate contact restrictions". “I attach great importance to the scientific advice also from the RKI,” Lauterbach said about the demands. “We work hand in hand”. But in the context of the RKI's scientific work there could sometimes be a demand “that we will not implement immediately,” the Minister of Health continued.
At the same time, Lauterbach emphasized last year “that a hard lockdown must also be discussed if the number of cases should develop like this”. There is no red line, only "at the moment we are not there," said the politician at the end of December. In order to prevent the Omikron wave from becoming too big, one will also have to advise which contact restrictions are appropriate, Lauterbach told RTL / ntv on Sunday evening with regard to the upcoming Corona summit.
A contamination could not be afforded in Germany because of the high number of unvaccinated people.
“The number of cases will rise very sharply, and that will also affect many unvaccinated people, and they are not protected.
So I'm very worried. ”To contain the coming wave of infections, the Minister of Health is therefore relying on booster vaccinations.

In addition to a possible shortening of the quarantine and any contact restrictions, the compulsory vaccination could also become an important topic for the Corona summit.
The chairman of the Prime Minister's Conference and head of government of North Rhine-Westphalia, Hendrik Wüst (CDU), reminded Olaf Scholz (SPD) of his words before he became Federal Chancellor.
