Al-Adiat Lattakia Association celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of the departure of the scholar Khair Al-Din Al-Asadi

Lattakia, SANA- The celebration of the Al-Adiyat Association in Lattakia marked the fiftieth anniversary of the passing away of the great scholar Khair Al-Din Al-Ass.

The celebration of Al-Adiyat Association in Lattakia, the fiftieth anniversary of the passing away of the scholar Khair Al-Din Al-Asadi, one of the most prominent figures of thought in Syria in the twentieth century, was characterized by its artistic, cultural and heritage richness through the activities it included of plastic art and music, as well as various lectures and seminars.

The celebration, which is organized annually by the Society in cooperation with the Directorate of Culture and the branch of the Union of Fine Artists in the governorate, included an exhibition with the participation of 23 artists from several governorates, and a musical evening during which certificates of honor were distributed to the winners of the Al-Asadi Awards for the year 2021, in addition to visiting some monuments such as the Great Arch, the Temple of Bacchus, the Citadel Gate and the National Museum .

The celebration also included a number of lectures and seminars that shed light on archeology presented by researcher Dr. Bassam Jamous, in addition to a lecture on plastic art presented by plastic researcher Hussein Saqour, to conclude the celebration by honoring a number of writers, creators and researchers who had an active presence and rich influence in cultural and intellectual life.

Member of the Association’s Board of Directors, Bassam Jablawi, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the Al-Adiyat Association launched an annual celebration and award seven years ago in the name of Al-Allama Al-Asadi, during which he announces, at the beginning of each year, a competition related to the historical, architectural, popular, cultural and intellectual heritage launched by Dr. Nahid Kusa, in honor of his teacher, to motivate Syrian youth to Seeing his heritage to document and disseminate it under the prevailing difficult circumstances.

Jablawi explained that the heritage award for the city of Lattakia went this year to the Association for the Welfare of the Blind in the city due to its efforts in the framework of professional and manual work within its care, education and training of the blind, while researcher Zuhair Muhammad Naji received the Jableh City Heritage Award in recognition of his distinguished career in history, investigation and documentation.

Farid Raslan, head of the branch of the Union of Fine Artists, pointed out the artists' keenness to be present in a cultural event that celebrates one of the figures who enriched Syrian cultural life as an important message of cultural communication.

For his part, the music researcher Ziad Ajjan, who participated in a special piece of music for the occasion, considered that heritage is an important factor in immortalizing many aspects of people's lives, so care must be taken to re-publish it among successive generations to remain rooted in our memory.

While the plastic researcher Hussein Saqour, who gave a lecture on the hierarchical relationship in the fine performance, considered that commemorating and honoring people is very important as an incentive to continue the path of thought and creativity and maintain its continuity and development through the new generations that absorbed what the predecessors presented and work to provide something new that has its aesthetics and privacy.

It is noteworthy that Khair al-Din al-Asadi (1899-1971) was a scholar, linguist and historian. He has many books, the most important of which is the Comparative Encyclopedia of Aleppo. He was one of the founders of the Al-Adiyat Association in 1924, which is concerned with monuments, antiquities, and tangible and intangible folk heritage.
