After a year off, carolers visited the Bavarian Prime Minister in the State Chancellery for the first time this year.

The ceremony was also posted on the net.

Munich - Traditions have to be cultivated - even in times of crisis.

This is probably what Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) thought when he received several carolers from the Diocese of Passau in the State Chancellery on Tuesday afternoon in times of contact restrictions and keeping a distance.

But that wasn't the only thing that caught the eye of the users on Facebook.

There was also one detail in his speech that was not hidden from the community.

Carol singers in the State Chancellery: Söder receives children from the Diocese of Passau

Despite Corona, carolers were allowed to write their blessing "20 * C + M + B + 22" on a slate in the orangery of the State Chancellery this year. Last year the ceremony was canceled due to the pandemic. This year, however, the carolers will go from house to house again to raise money for children in need. The tradition has been around since 1959 and, according to the Diocese of Passau, it is the largest solidarity campaign by children for children. Since the premiere over 60 years ago, donations have already been raised over a billion euros. This year the children are collecting for health care for children in Africa under the motto “Get healthy - stay healthy”.

Söder praised the campaign as a signal of hope and togetherness - especially in these difficult times.

"We were lucky in the big lottery of life to be born in Europe, in Germany, especially in Bavaria," said Söder.

“Others would not be lucky.

But they are worth just as much and have exactly the same rights and hopes.

That is why it is important to think of them and help them, ”said the country manager.

Söder starts to laugh at his speech - users on the Internet notice that straight away

Subsequently, parts of the ceremony and the speech were cut together and broadcast as a video on the State Chancellery's social media channels.

And there was then also diligent commentary.

One wrote: "And that is what you call 'avoiding unnecessary contacts'?" Another noticed something especially at the end of Söder's speech.

With the sentence “And besides, the blessing that you bring can only help here.

So it can only get better through you [...] ”the CSU boss starts to laugh a little.

A user promptly writes: "Is he laughing at his own statement?" Perhaps Söder is just skeptical as to whether the carol singers blessing will bring him through his survey low and the corona pandemic.
