in coordination with the American maritime authorities (...) during the interception at sea of two boats, intercepted in sight of El Salvador,
" police said in a statement.
The ships carrying the 4.1 tons of cocaine had left from the Colombian port of Tumaco, in the department of Narino (southwest).
Seven people were arrested, including five Colombians and two Ecuadorians, police said.
"
The drugs are believed to belong to a faction of the FARC which refused the historic agreement signed in 2016,
" the statement added.
Colombia is, according to the United Nations, the world's largest producer of cocaine and the world's largest grower of coca leaves.
