Tens of thousands protested against corona measures on Monday.

It was mostly peaceful - but there were also bite attacks, bottle throws and “verbal attacks”.

Berlin - More than 35,000 people took to the streets against the Corona measures on Monday (January 3) in German cities - often during unauthorized "walks".

In some places there were also gatherings of supporters of the measures and vaccination.

There were riots in Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt.

According to the police, emergency services were attacked in Lichtenstein near Zwickau, 14 of whom were injured.

"One person tried to wrest a service weapon from an officer, and one officer was bitten by a participant in the gathering," the police department said.

The police inspection in Magdeburg spoke of broken police chains, bottles thrown at officials and pyrotechnics used.

According to initial findings, no officials were injured.

The police in Fulda, Hesse, broke up a meeting.

One of the participants attacked the forces, said a police spokesman.

The officers used pepper spray and the person was arrested.

According to the police, the gathering was broken up because no masks were worn and no distances were observed.

According to a police spokesman, around 12,000 people in more than 20 cities took part in registered “light walks”, rallies and unregistered silent marches in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

That was about 3,000 less than a week ago.

There were occasional counter rallies - according to the police, there were initially no incidents worth mentioning.

According to the police in Thuringia, around 16,000 people took part in unannounced protests against corona protective measures.

Apart from small scuffles, the demonstrations have so far been peaceful, said a spokesman on Monday evening.

There were also meetings in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg.

Around 4200 people demonstrated against the Corona policy in Nuremberg - significantly more than expected.

There were no incidents.

A police spokesman said that around 2000 participants gathered for a so-called walk in Friedrichshafen on Monday evening.

The participants spontaneously agreed on social networks to move from Ravensburg to Friedrichshafen with this campaign.
