Sanctions proposals targeting the entire police hierarchy fell on Tuesday after the cascading failures that led to the tragedy of Mérignac, near Bordeaux.
Eight months after the assassination of Chahinez Daoud, gunshot wounded before being burned alive on May 4 in the middle of the street by her violent husband, from whom she was separated, six police officers went to the "turnstile" for faults or shortcomings who had provoked anger right up to the top of the Interior Ministry.
Already convicted of domestic violence, Mounir Boutaa, who had just come out of prison, had again threatened his wife.
The latter had filed a complaint two months before being killed.
