The tough price negotiations at Edeka seem to be endless.
But the supermarket chain is persistent.
Edeka especially clashed with the juice manufacturer Eckes-Granini.
Hamburg - In the past few months, the supermarket giant Edeka * has made headlines * again and again.
The reason for this was the price negotiations with the suppliers, in which Edeka is persistent.
Due to a lack of raw materials and higher energy costs, many manufacturers want to charge more for their products.
But Edeka does not get involved in price increases, which is why various brands have even found gaps on the shelves.
Because manufacturers often use delivery stops as a means of pressure.
Edeka: Granini is asking six percent more for its juices
The dispute with the fruit juice manufacturer Eckes-Granini * is particularly serious. According to
Handelsblatt
information, Granini wanted six percent more for its juices. Higher raw material prices and the shortage of glass and recycled PET for bottles are to blame for the enormous price increase. “Diversity, quality, innovations and more sustainability are not available for free,” Granini explains.
But Edeka sees it differently and quickly fills the gaps on the shelves with the juice from its own brand "Albi" - but in new bottles.
However, Granini recognizes a strong similarity between the new "Albi" bottles and their own and therefore takes it to court.
With success: Edeka is not allowed to sell or advertise its new bottles.
The judgment will be announced by the Hamburg Regional Court on January 12th, reports the
Handelsblatt
.
Edeka does not want to give in in the negotiations
How the negotiations will continue should remain exciting.
Because Edeka is stubborn.
A spokesman for

argued: "Food must not become a luxury good." Consumers also have to pay attention to the price because of inflation and higher energy costs when shopping. * It is dangerous if large corporations "try to ride on the wave of inflation", although they are not really faced with higher costs.
