Berg - The “Artwork of the Month” series will also begin in 2022 with a homage to a deceased artist: In January, the picture “Dipped Lights” by Hans Dumler can be seen.

The presentation will take place on Wednesday, January 12th, from 7.30 p.m. in the Katharina-von-Bora-Haus at Fischackerweg 10 in Berg.

Harry Sternberg will read a text by Oskar Maria Graf.

Hans Dumler would have been 100 years old this year

The painter Hans Dumler, who died in 2017, would have celebrated his 100th birthday in 2022.

Born in Cologne in 1922, he began training as a commercial artist in 1939 at the Cologne factory schools.

After military service and imprisonment, he moved to Bavaria, where he was able to continue his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich.

He became a master student and later also an assistant to Franz Nagel.

A scholarship enabled him to study in Paris in the mid-1950s.

Hans Dumler lived in seclusion near Landsberg

After numerous awards, international exhibitions and acquisitions, his career was suddenly interrupted in 1976 by the death of the Munich gallery owner Günther Franke, who had represented him for several years.

Dumler then lived very withdrawn at Gut Memming near Landsberg.

In 1992 he moved into a studio in Utting am Ammersee, in 2004 he married his third wife Ruth Denk - and returned to life at the age of over eighty.

Pastor Johannes Habdank is the host in Berg

The evangelical parish of Berg, in cooperation with the Berg Kulturverein, presents an artist with a selected work every month.

“A picture only becomes a picture if you add your own.” This quote from Sigmar Polke will appear above the series of events in 2022.

Bread and wine as well as a literary, philosophical or even theological text accompany the work of art of the month on the evening of the presentation.

The project is curated by Katja Sebald and funded by the Berg municipality.

The host is Pastor Johannes Habdank.

This is followed by pictures from Anna Schölß to Daniela Fugger-Antonacci

The other dates of the "Artwork of the Month" series in the first half of 2022 are on February 9th with Anna Schölß from Kochel, on March 9th with Heiko Börner from Munich, on April 13th with Michael Wesely from Berlin, on May 11th with Helmut Geierstanger from Munich and on June 8th with Daniela Fugger-Antonacci from Berg.
