Incredible: Twins are born in different years

Actually there are only 15 minutes between the births of Aylin and Alfredo - nevertheless the twins now have completely different birthdays.

A rarity.  

Salinas, California - Having to share your birthday is certainly a point that twins are not to be envied. The twins Aylin and Alfredo have now been spared that. But that's not all: The two newborns not only have their birthdays on different days, but were also born in different years. A real rarity.

The Natividad Medical Center hospital reported the extraordinary birth on Sunday (January 2nd, 2022).

So, shortly before midnight, the family happiness began in the California hospital.

First, Fatima Madrigal, who was pregnant with the twins, gave birth to her son Alfredo.

The time of his birth: December 31, 2021, 11:45 p.m.

Actually only 15 minutes later, it's sister Aylin Yolanda Trujillo's turn.

Your date of birth is 01/01/2022, midnight.

Twins have different years of birth: the probability is 1 in 2 million

And that makes the twins a real rarity.

The US Hospital in Salinas said there are approximately 120,000 twin births in the US each year.

That is just under three percent of all births in the country.

It is rare that the “few” twins are born around midnight - that is, on different days.

The probability that they have different years of birth is estimated at 1 in 2 million, emphasized the Natividad Medical Center.

And yet the same miracle only happened in Germany two years ago: In the Bürgerhospital in Frankfurt am Main * the twins Noel and Leon were born in different years *.

Leon saw the light of day on December 31, 2019 at 11:24 p.m., his twin brother Noel only an hour later, on January 1, 2020.

The mother of the child prodigies can hardly believe it herself.

"It's crazy to me that they are twins and have different birthdays," she told the hospital the day after the births.

"I was surprised and happy that [Aylin] arrived at midnight."

Different birthdays: special twins in the US complete family

The doctor who gave birth to the twins on New Year's Eve is also impressed by the rare birth.

"It was definitely one of the most memorable births of my career," the hospital quoted Dr.

Ana Abril Arias.

"What an amazing way to start the new year!"

Aylin and Alfredo complete the California family as fourth and fifth children.

The three siblings could hardly wait to finally get to know them, said Mama Fatima.
