Dietersheim has had a first responder since January 1st.
This is a special service that is "sent ahead" to the ambulance.
Dietersheim
- A medical emergency takes seconds.
The probability of survival in a cardiac arrest drops by ten percent every minute.
An ambulance takes a few minutes to be deployed.
But what to do if there is no emergency vehicle available in a timely manner?
In order to initiate vital initial measures at an early stage, a first responder unit has now been established in Dietersheim.
This began its service on New Year's Day.
First aid before the ambulance
This is a voluntary addition to the rescue service by volunteers from the Dietersheim fire brigade. “A first responder arrives before the ambulance service and provides first aid until it arrives. In the future, if you call 112 for a medical emergency and there is no rescue service vehicle in the immediate vicinity, he will be automatically alerted by the control center in Erding in addition to an ambulance and an ambulance, ”explains FFW spokeswoman Jara Mayer. The first responder is, so to speak, "sent ahead" to the rescue service.
Given the proximity of the location, it is possible that the patient will receive first aid within a few minutes and the chances of survival increase significantly.
The ambulance service takes him over after his arrival, intensifies the treatment and, if necessary, transports the patient to the hospital.
The first responder will not be alerted if an ambulance is available nearby or if the nature of the emergency does not require it.
Over 30 fully operational volunteers are available
The first responder idea came up within the FFW Dietersheim at the end of 2019.
Mayer: "Due to the steadily increasing number of members and a growing interest in emergency medicine, the feasibility of such a project quickly became a feasible area." Forces available.
(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)
After long and intensive planning, the time had come on Saturday: Dietersheim's first responder unit was available to the public for the first time.
