On November 23, in South Africa, health authorities alert the whole world after the discovery of a new form of Covid-19.
In the days that followed, the first cases of patients contaminated by this variant, called Omicron, were identified in France.
A virus resistant to the vaccine, according to the first studies, including in people doubly vaccinated.
But a priori much less virulent with a booster dose.
While this variant seems to cause less severe forms of the disease, it is spreading at breakneck speed.
With hundreds of thousands of cases detected every day from the end of December, the government must take action against Omicron which, if it should not saturate resuscitation services in hospitals, risks disrupting health care providers. businesses, schools and utilities.
