The Prison Authority confirmed tonight (Tuesday) that an agreement had been reached between Israel and security detainee Hisham Abu Hashwash to end his 141-day hunger strike.
The authority confirmed the report in Al-Quds that the detainee would be released in February and not in April.
The release comes after the Islamic Jihad threatened that the detainee's death would be considered assassination and would be answered accordingly.
Earlier in the day, al-Quds reported that Egypt had taken part in negotiations and sought to reach an interim compromise, in which the security detainee would be released on February 26.
The Palestinian newspaper also reported that Egypt feared that the issue of the security detainee could lead to a new round of fighting in the Gaza Strip, which would affect attempts to reach a truce between Israel and Hamas.
The verdict that rejected his petition for release or a detention freeze in December stated that the ruling was decided on the basis of "confidential intelligence information in his case."
Abu Wahash was arrested on October 29, 2020 and is being questioned by police on suspicion of membership and activity in a hostile organization, harming the security of the area and planning to carry out military activity.
However, Abu Hashwash denied what was attributed to him.
It was further stated that in light of the confidential information in his case and in the absence of the possibility of prosecuting him criminally, the military commander decided on his administrative detention, which was extended from time to time, until April 26, 2022.
"Voters in life" forum: "This is not how we fight terrorism"
Meanwhile, at the "choose life" of the bereaved families and victims of terrorism responded to reports: "Once again the Israeli government gives in to threats and intimidation of Hamas and other supporters of the terrorists, if terrorist hunger striker to die they attack Israel and the government gives in cowardice scary and not for the first time.
So do not fight "In terrorism, this does not create deterrence. A terrorist who goes on hunger strike must be hospitalized until he stops or dies, without communication and without visits from all supporters of the various terrorists."

MK Itamar Ben Gvir of Religious Zionism said: "I intend to arrive at the hospital soon.
Just do not believe that the General Security Service and the Israeli government surrender and fold in front of Hamas and jihad prisoners and the terrorists have learned a method: the prisoner goes on hunger strike, pro-terror Knesset members come to his bed, Hamas and jihad threaten and Israel folds again, so that there will be no escalation.
In this way, they give an incentive to terrorism and the continuation of the threats to Israel - the terrorist organizations humiliate Israel to the ground. "
