PM Olmert Addresses Death of Two Air Force Pilots: "It's a Very Sad Night" • Defense Minister Ganz: "The IDF Will Investigate and Learn


The helicopter crash last night (Monday) off the coast of Haifa stunned the political system, and many public figures published reactions to the tragedy.

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett wrote in a tweet on his Twitter account that "this is a very sad night."

"On behalf of the citizens of Israel, I would like to send heartfelt condolences to the families of those killed in the helicopter accident and speedy recovery to the injured officer," Bennett added.

"The Air Force pilots who fell in the accident were among the best of our sons. The people of Israel will not forget their contribution, night and day, to the security of the country. May their memory be blessed."

Defense Minister Bnei Gantz wrote on Twitter following the deaths of the two pilots in the helicopter crash off the coast of Haifa: "Seeking heartfelt condolences to the families of those killed in the helicopter accident and complete healing to the wounded."

Gantz added: "I spoke with the chief of staff, and I promise that the IDF will investigate the incident and draw the necessary lessons. I would like to thank the rescue forces who acted quickly and under difficult conditions to locate the helicopter crew."
