Stockholm-Sana
Swedish prosecutors announced today that the judiciary intends to try a Swedish woman on charges of committing “war crimes” for sending her child son to join the ranks of terrorist organizations in Syria.
Reuters quoted prosecutors as saying that the 49-year-old helped recruit her 12-year-old son to join the terrorists in Syria before he was killed there.
Prosecutor Rina Devgon indicated that the woman, whose trial will begin on January 10, faces a minimum prison sentence of four years.
The child, born in 2001, starting in 2013, joined the ranks of the terrorist organization “ISIS” and was killed in 2017. The Swedish authorities have not published any other details related to the identification of the mother or her son.
