Preparations are already under way behind the scenes.

Washington - Mar-a-Lago is a good place to live.

The building on the huge property in Palm Beach / Florida has almost 120 rooms, a private club and a ballroom.

As US President, Donald Trump received state guests such as China's President Xi Jinping.

Since he left office, the 75-year-old spends most of the year in his luxury quarters, but not as a pensioner!

In Mar-a-Lago, he plans to return to the White House.

US expert on ex-president: "I'm sure that Trump will run again in 2024"

Well-informed observers like journalist Michael Wolff say: "I am sure that Trump will run for president again in 2024." So far, he has only flirted with it.

"If I decide against it, my base will be very angry," he said around December.

That was just one of the signs of running again.

Some believe the Republican will announce it after the November midterm elections.

It would also be possible for him to do it on Thursday (January 6th).

Ironically, on the first anniversary of the devastating storm on the US Capitol, Trump invites you to a press conference in Mar-a-Lago.

According to the political magazine

, he wants to characterize the events of January 6, 2021 as an "unarmed protest against the stolen election".

It would be an unprecedented attempt to purge his followers.

And a symbolic boost for Operation Comeback.

It started a long time ago. At random intervals, Trump appears in front of his fans and repeats the lie about the stolen election. That catches. According to surveys, 70 percent of Republicans believe him and 80 percent would like to run again. Meanwhile, Trump is busy collecting campaign donations. So far it should be more than 100 million euros. Surveys also show that it has a popularity rate of 43 percent. Sounds meager, but the hapless Joe Biden is currently at similarly low values.

Above all, however, Trump's allies in the states are setting the course for electoral success: They are changing the electoral laws in their favor.

According to the prestigious Brennan Center in New York, 19 Republican states passed laws last year to make it difficult for black, more democratic Americans to vote.

These include stricter identification requirements or shorter opening times for polling stations.

In the states concerned, the Senate and House of Representatives should be able to determine in three years which electorate they send to Washington to elect the president. In other words, the parliaments can, if necessary, undermine the will of the electorate if the election result does not fit. Trump could catch up on the coup that was denied to him in 2020.

The first hurdle, however, is the midterms, the mid-term elections, next November.

Trump-loyal candidates are already being used.

There is a good chance that Republicans will win back at least one of the chambers (Senate or House of Representatives) in Washington.

By then at the latest, the ex-president should venture out of cover.
