Despite positive corona tests, the BBL game takes place between Würzburg and Bayreuth.
Clubs and players had already agreed on a move beforehand.
Würzburg - Not only in Germany's most popular sport, soccer, clubs like FC Bayern Munich have to fight corona cases.
In the basketball Bundesliga, too, there are always players who have tested positive.
And compared to the top sport football, basketball is played in close physical contact in the hall.
Therefore, particularly high security standards should apply here.
Both clubs cannot understand why the s.Oliver Würzburg team's game against medi Bayreuth was kicked off at the weekend in two positive cases.
Corona cases in the basketball Bundesliga: four players and the coach affected
On Sunday there was the Bavarian derby between Würzburg * and Bayreuth * in the easyCredit BBL.
The day before, a quick test * by a player from Würzburg had positive results.
On the day of the match, however, all PCR tests were negative, writes the
BR
.
However, coach Sasa Filipovski and player Julius Böhmer tested positive in a PCR test on Monday.
However, both showed symptoms at the weekend and after the game against Berlin on December 31, according to the
SZ
.
They therefore decided not to take part in the game, as did the players William Buford, Alex King and Julian Albus.
Apparently, all of the tests had no effect on the game.

Then on Monday another series of rapid tests.
Again two new positive results.
The PCR test results are still pending.
Würzburg's managing director Steffen Liebler sees it in black.
"That will probably continue if our rapid tests do not lie completely," he said to the
BR
.
Both clubs have no understanding for the game being played.
Corona cases in the basketball Bundesliga: the club would have liked more flexibility
“The health of the players should always be in the foreground. So I would have liked the game to be postponed, ”the managing director continued in the
BR
interview. Both clubs had previously agreed to postpone the game. The league was of a different opinion. Reference was made to the applicable regulations. A game will only be postponed if there is a positive PCR test result on the match day itself. Liebler therefore continues: "I can understand the league in a way, but in this case I would have liked a little more flexibility." National basketball player and Bayreuth point guard, Bastian Doreth, wrote on Twitter.
One day after the match he also wrote on Twitter: “Today there is no positive news, but positive tests from Würzburg”.
He was absent from the game due to an injury, but said on Magenta TV at halftime: “I find it absurd and grossly negligent that you are forcing both teams to play here, even though they say they see too high a health risk for the players .
This is another classic case where the league takes precedence over the clubs. ”And although the Bayreuth team won the game against a weak Würzburg team with just 88 to 80, the win probably left a bitter aftertaste.
