The fire in the 800 block of 23rd Street took 50 minutes to control, the Philadelphia Fire Department said in a verified social media tweet.

The call came in around 6:40 in the morning.

Philadelphia police described the address as a house converted into two apartments.

Both police and firefighters are on the scene, and the scene remains active despite the fire being under control, the fire department said.
