Big sigh of relief in fashion stores: The court overturned the 2G rule for clothing purchases.

But the mood among companies in Bad Tölz is somewhere between joy and frustration.

Bad Tölz

- Relief in the fashion shops: The Regensburg Administrative Court ruled that clothing is part of daily needs.

This means: In shops that sell sweaters, pants, jackets and underwear, the 2G rule no longer applies.

“I'm really happy,” says Renée Obermeir, owner of “Blue Flamingo Fashion” in Tölzer Markstraße.

2G controls in shops: "None of us felt comfortable with it"

Overall, her mood after the judgment is somewhere between joy and frustration.

On the one hand, she is incredibly relieved that she no longer has to control her customers: "None of us felt comfortable with it, it was a psychological burden." The data control is a state task.

On the other hand, Obermeir is annoyed that the restrictions in clothing stores have been in place for so long.

It was puzzling from the outset why clothing is not part of daily needs: "If cut flowers are part of daily needs, then that applies twice to underwear, hats and gloves."

The business owner asks herself: “Where were the associations and the interest groups of the retailers?

You could have found out much earlier that fashion is part of everyday life. ”When she reads the judgment, she feels“ fooled because we tried to stick to the constantly changing rules ”.

2G rule in shops: “Organizationally complex” - sales drop by 20 percent

Florian Lipp, managing director of the Rid department store, says: “This is a sensible, comprehensible judgment that will do us good.” Overall, however, there were no major problems with the 2G rule in the Rid branches.

The staff made sure that all hygiene rules were observed.

There were no problems whatsoever with the customers, "but organizationally it was already complex".

The effects of the 2G rule were also felt financially - Lipp puts the decline in sales at around 20 percent.

Corona rules in Bavaria: "It was a lot of effort to intercept every customer at the door immediately"

Barbara Hauser, owner of “Hauser Männermode”, is also relieved that she will no longer have to pay attention to compliance with the 2G rule in the future: “It was a lot of effort to intercept every customer at the door immediately.” Despite all the restrictions, that was Christmas business went “very satisfactorily”.

Laughing, Hauser adds: "I know that this is not the trend, but it is."

However, the rejection of the Christmas market was bitter: "Freezing walk-in customers who buy hats, scarves and jackets have been completely absent this year." Since all Christmas parties and balls were canceled, there was also "very little" demand for suits.

Cardigans, sweaters, shirts and trousers went all the better.

Hauser does not believe that the removal of the 2G rule will change sales significantly.

Most of the regular customers of your business are either vaccinated or have recovered.

This usually also applies to holidaymakers, "because otherwise they are not even allowed to go into a hotel".

The unvaccinated customers would have used "Click and Collect".
