As-Suwayda-Sana
The automated carpet factory in As-Suwayda marketed about 16,893 square meters of its production during the past year, with a value of more than 681 million pounds.
The director of the plant, Engineer Hamad Al-Shoufi, said in a statement to SANA reporter today that the marketed quantities are about 8,580 square meters that have been sold.
Directly and the rest of the quantities were supplied to the branches of the General Company for the Wool and Carpet Industry in the governorates, indicating that during the last quarter of the last year, the factory witnessed an active marketing movement due to the demand for carpet purchases with the advent of winter.
Al-Shoufi praised the efforts made by the workers and management to overcome the difficulties represented by the old looms, the large number of their malfunctions, the old age of workers and the lack of labor, stressing the importance of expediting the supply of the plant with modern looms, the appointment of new workers, and the rehabilitation of the plant’s infrastructure.
The automated carpet factory in Sweida took off in 1979, and it is one of the leading factories in Syria.
