Big recall at Mercedes-Benz.
The car manufacturer from Stuttgart warns of a possible fire hazard.
At best, around 800,000 affected wagons should no longer be driven.
Stuttgart - Mercedes * drivers take note.
The well-known automaker is recalling 800,000 vehicles.
The reason for this is a fault in a component which in the worst case could even burn.
According to the
picture
, diesel models from the GLC, GLE, GLS, C-, E- and S-Class, CLS and off-road Dino G-Class with the OM 654 or OM 656 engines are affected.
However, only the models from the production period from January 2017 to October 2021.
Mercedes-Benz: The risk of fire "cannot be completely ruled out"
In a letter with the title "Customer information on the recall campaign", the
picture
is available,
Mercedes explains to the customers concerned what the problem is with the cars.
It states “that the coolant pump, which can be controlled via negative pressure, could have a leak between the coolant and negative pressure circuit in vehicles.” This can “in individual cases” mean that the temperature of the component rises continuously.
A fire hazard * cannot be "completely ruled out."
Such recalls usually only mean a short visit to the workshop to fix the problem.
But in this case it is different.
Because the parts required to repair the error are currently not available.
So this means: The affected vehicles cannot be repaired at the moment.
Mercedes-Benz advises driving affected cars as little as possible
And now?
What should you do with the car until the spare parts are available *?
In its letter to customers, Mercedes explains: "In the meantime, the vehicle affected by the recall should be driven particularly carefully and use restricted to the minimum required." In practical terms, this means that it is best not to drive the car at all .
