Accident near Irschenberg: unconscious truck driver crashes into guardrail - A8 motorway is partially closed

Irschenberg - A truck driver passed out on Wednesday on the A8 motorway shortly before the Irschenberg junction heading south.

There was an accident, the A8 is partially blocked.

On Wednesday (January 5th) around 6:30 a.m. on the A8 on the uphill stretch just before the Irschenberg junction towards the south, there was an accident with a tractor-trailer.

A 43-year-old truck driver was driving from Holzkirchen towards Salzburg.

"Shortly after starting the journey, he had medical problems, so that he passed out as a result," reports the Holzkirchen autobahn police.

The truck came off the lane and hit the right guard rail.

He himself was uninjured in the accident, but came to the hospital with the ambulance to clarify the fainting.

The salvage work for the semitrailer is still ongoing.

The motorway had to be completely closed for half an hour because the truck was hanging between the crash barrier and the embankment and had to be recovered with a crane.

One of three lanes is currently passable.

The end of the rescue and clean-up work is expected around 9:30 a.m., the report says.
