In fact, the number of unemployed rises sharply in December.

This time, however, the Freising labor market was particularly robust.

Freising

- "The situation on the regional labor market remained stable until the end of the year: In December 2021, 7,624 people were registered as unemployed in the districts of Freising, Erding, Dachau and Ebersberg, 45 men and women more than in November 2021," reports press spokeswoman Kathrin Stemberger from the Freising Employment Agency: "The unemployment rate was unchanged at 2.0 percent. In comparison: In December 2020 the rate for the agency district was 2.6 percent, in December 2019 it was 1.8 percent.

The seasonal increase in unemployment figures that is usual for the time of year was therefore comparatively low in the region. "

In many branches it was possible to work for a long time

“At the beginning of winter we were able to observe some unemployment reports from the weather-dependent industries.

Since it was still possible to work in external professions in the last few weeks, there has been no big rush so far, ”explains Andreas Bräutigam, division manager of the agency.

In general, according to the monthly report, the regional labor market in December 2021 was “in much better shape than a year ago”.

At that time, 2049 more people were looking for a new job than in the last few weeks.

Bridegroom: “But we are also registering that the number of companies that put advertisements on short-time work for their employees has increased slightly since September 2021.

Demand for personnel

However, the demand for personnel picked up again in December 2021.

The press spokeswoman: "In the last month of the year, the companies informed the employment agencies of the employment agencies in the Freising, Erding, Dachau and Ebersberg districts about 1223 new jobs to be filled, 189 more than in November 2021. This means that there were 5352 job offers in the job pool."

Review of the year 2021: in January and February the crisis took off

“Especially at the beginning of 2021, the effects of the crisis were clearly felt on the regional labor market,” Stemberger sums up: “In January and February, the agency district recorded the highest unemployment rate since the beginning of the pandemic at 3.1 percent. In January 2021, the number of unemployed also reached its highest level for the year: 11 513 people from the districts of Freising, Erding, Dachau and Ebersberg were looking for a new job. "

At the same time, the demand for personnel fell sharply: in January 2021 there were only 3,594 job offers in the job pool: “That was the lowest number of vacancies to date during the pandemic,” the balance sheet continues: “From March 2021 the labor market slowly recovered. The unemployment rate fell continuously and the demand for labor increased. This catch-up effect increased significantly again in the second half of the year: since July 2021, the companies have reported more vacancies to employment agencies than in the same months of 2019. In 2021, a total of 12,295 job offers were received by the agency over the course of the year, 3009 more than in 2020 and 94 Make more than before the pandemic in 2019.

According to the agency report,

The unemployment rate averaged 2.5 percent in 2021 (2020: 2.6 percent; 2019: 1.9 percent). "

Since the beginning of the pandemic, short-time working has provided massive support for the labor market and helped avoid layoffs.

In April 2020, according to the agency report, “4063 companies took advantage of this option.

At that time, 47,344 female employees worked briefly - the highest level since the beginning of the pandemic ”.

But also in 2021 “short-time work was an important tool for companies to keep staff”.

In February 2021, 34,849 people were on short-time work.

Since then, the numbers have fallen continuously.

The latest figures for 2021 come from August: At this point in time, the employment agency counted 12,692 short-time workers in 930 companies.
