Since this week there has been another corona test station in Penzberg.

It is located at the “New Fitness World” gym on the “Im Thal” street.

Martina Gundhardt and her team offer free antigen rapid tests and saliva tests for children there five days a week.

Penzberg - Almost two months ago, there was still a lack of test facilities in Penzberg. At that time the Johanniter had closed their station in the town hall. The only test point that remained at lunchtime and in the evening was the Weinert practice at the former “post office” (it is closed during the Christmas holidays). In the meantime, the situation has eased significantly. Since the end of November tests have been carried out in the “Wirtshaus zur Koinschaufe” near the town hall. Martina Gundhardt from the “New Fitness World” fitness studio has now also opened a test site on 15 Im Thal Street. This is not competition, she emphasizes. “It's a necessity to make the situation easier and safer for everyone.” Actually, the test station should have opened earlier, she says. However, it was difficult to get authorization from the health department.

Free Rapid Antigen Test - Also saliva tests for children

At the new test station in a tent by the fitness studio, free antigen rapid tests are offered on the one hand.

Only people who do not live in Germany have to pay 15 euros according to legal requirements.

On the other hand, there are free rapid tests for children as spit or saliva variants.

This is particularly important to Martina Gundhardt - as boys and girls who attend day-care centers also have to be tested from January 10th, three times a week.

For children, a spit test is often easier than a lollipop test or a nasal swab, she says.

The demand is high, but the supply is low.

The new test site is temporarily open for five days - registration required

The offer for children is one of the considerations that prompted the gym manager to open the test site. On the other hand, she wanted to make it easier for the members in the studio - there “2G plus” applies - who now no longer have to bring self-tests with them. There is also concern that another lockdown will occur, with the result that employees will have to go on short-time work. The gym has already had three lockdowns, the last two weeks in December. At the test site, she says, her employees could help out if necessary.

There are currently five employees taking turns there, all of whom have completed a training course.

Test appointments can be reserved for Mondays and Wednesdays between 7 a.m. and 12 p.m. and Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The times can be adjusted if necessary, says Martina Gundhardt.

The first day, she says, was still quite comfortable, but Tuesday was already full.

"Thank God, you can see that there is demand and it was a good idea."

Test dates

Test dates can be reserved on the “www.penzberg.buerger-schnelltest.de” website.

The reservation will be confirmed by SMS or email.

You will receive a QR code that you must bring with you to the appointment (including your ID).

The test result is sent in German and English after 15 minutes by SMS or email.
