At 2 o'clock in the afternoon today (4th), a red taxi parked on the site of a rotten parking lot on the west of Xinghua Street in Changsha Bay suddenly burst into flames. The fire broke out and spread to a nearby private car.
Firefighters arrived at the scene to put out the fire. The 54-year-old taxi driver surnamed Zheng suffered burns to his head and toes and was sent to hospital in critical condition.
The police found a plate of burnt charcoal in the taxi. After preliminary investigations, it was believed that the cause of the fire was suspicious. The taxi driver was arrested on suspicion of arson.

It was seen at the scene that the taxi was burned in the fire and the front of the private car was severely burned.
Zheng was in a coma and was sent to Princess Margaret Hospital for treatment, and then transferred to Eastern District Hospital in critical condition.
As for the owner of the 48-year-old Chen who was affected by the private car, he was notified by the police afterwards and was also present to assist in the investigation.
The police classified the case as arson and referred it to the Criminal Investigation Team of Sham Shui Po Police District for follow-up.
