Demonstrations in Kazakhstan: Russia and neighboring countries will send forces to restore "stability"

Russia and other neighboring countries of Kazakhstan will send "observing" forces to the country to help restore stability in the wake of the riots that erupted in protest of rising fuel prices and have since spread to a power struggle.
President Kasim-Jumart Tokayev this evening (Wednesday) addressed the Organization of the Common Security Treaty - a military alliance led by Moscow that includes several former Soviet republics, including Kazakhstan.
In a speech to the nation, the president claimed that "terrorist gangs trained by foreign elements" are taking over buildings, infrastructure and weapons.
According to the Interior Ministry, eight members of the security forces were killed and 317 injured in clashes with protesters across the country.
