When entering or returning to Germany from abroad, the digital entry registration must be completed in certain cases.

Thats how it works.

The digital entry registration for Germany has been in place since November 2020.

It must be completed by anyone who has been in a virus variant or high-risk area in the last ten days and wants to enter Germany.

The RKI maintains a list of countries that currently fall into these categories *.

With the help of the entry registration, the responsible health authorities receive the necessary information to determine whether test, vaccination or recovery certificates are available or whether the quarantine obligation is being complied with.

The data of the travelers is encrypted and made available to the respective health department.

The information will be automatically deleted 14 days after entry.

Returning to Germany: How to fill out the digital immigration registration

You can find the digital entry form for Germany at www.einreiseanmeldung.de.

It has to be filled out before entering the country.

If, in exceptional cases, you are not able to complete your entry registration digitally, you can fill out a replacement notification in paper form instead.

  • Enter the language in which the entry form should be displayed.

    "German" is preselected.

  • Now select the countries in which you have been

    in the last ten days

    .

Here you can see whether the whereabouts are risk areas.

  • Click on "Next" to find out which entry rules apply to you.

If you stay in a risk area, you must be able to present either a negative corona test or proof of vaccination or recovery.

In addition, there is a quarantine obligation for unvaccinated and non-convalescents.

If you have not stayed in a risk area, you do not need to fill in the entry form any further.

  • In the next step you have to state which of the evidence you have and whether you suffer from typical symptoms of a corona disease.

  • You will then be asked about the type of

    travel

: Here you can choose whether you will enter the country by bus, train, plane, car or other means of transport.

Depending on what you select here, you have to provide additional information about the place of departure, date of entry, name of the bus company or airline or the flight number.

  • Your

    personal data

    - for example first name, last name, date of birth, telephone number and email address - will now be requested.

  • You can then have a

code sent to you by email or SMS

, which is used to check the data.

  • If you have given your details truthfully, you will receive a confirmation that you should carry with you throughout the trip.

Exceptions: Who does not have to fill out the digital entry form?

The digital entry registration only needs to be completed by travelers who have recently been in virus variant and high risk areas.

The obligation applies to all travelers of all ages - including children under six years of age.

However, there are exceptions for the following people:

  • People who only

traveled through a virus variant area or high-risk area

    and did not stop there.

  • People who

    only travel through Germany

and leave it again using the quickest route.

  • People who have been in a virus variant or high-risk area for less than 24 hours as part of

    border traffic

or who only enter Germany for up to 24 hours.

  • People who have stayed in a high-risk

area (not virus variant area) for a

maximum of 72 hours for the purpose of

    visiting relatives
