Statutory pensioners can look forward to it.

According to estimates, the average wage will fall this year - with positive consequences for future retirement.

Munich - Good news for future retirees *.

In 2022, employees can top up their pension at a particularly low price.

But even those who do not pay extra should collect more pension points this year than last year with the same wages.

The reason for this is the average wage, which the Federal Government sets with the consent of the Bundesrat.

This is based on data from the Federal Statistical Office *.

In 2022, the average wage is estimated to have fallen to 38,901 euros.

In 2021 it was 41,541 euros.

Pension: Thanks to the lower average earnings, there are more pension points

But what does that mean?

First of all, you get more pension points * for the same salary.

So if you earn 38,901 euros in 2022, you will receive one pension point.

If the salary remains the same, more pension points will accumulate - all by itself. An example: If you earn the average wage from 2021 this year, you will receive just under 1.07 pension points instead of one pension point.

According to the current pension value, that would result in a monthly plus of EUR 2.32.

Pension: Special payments in 2022 are particularly worthwhile

Due to the lower average wage, it is particularly worthwhile this year to make a special payment to the German Pension Insurance.

This is possible for those with statutory pension insurance from the age of 50.

As calculated by

t-online.de

, you receive 1.3821 pension points for a payment of 10,000 euros.

According to the current status, the monthly pension in the old federal states would then increase by around 47.25 euros, since one pension point there is worth 34.19 euros.

In the new federal states the value is currently 33.47 euros.

Such special payments can be used to compensate for deductions from earlier retirement *.

Because for every month that you retire earlier, 0.3 percent is deducted from the actual pension.

So if you leave a year earlier, you will also receive 3.6 percent less pension.

With a pension of 800 euros that would be 28.80 euros less.

However, whether such a special payment is worthwhile should always be discussed individually with a pension advisor.
