Iranian police denied reports of a missile explosion in a suburb of the capital, Tehran, confirming that they were just malicious and baseless rumours.

Deputy Chief of Tehran Police for Security Affairs and Internal Security Mohsen Nabibi said in a statement to IRNA today that "the rumors published by some websites today about the explosion of the missile are completely unfounded."

The Revolutionary Guards in Alborz province announced in a statement that the sound that was heard today in the outskirts of Karaj was caused by the launch of a missile during a training exercise conducted at one of the headquarters of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, which sparked some speculation and rumors in the cyberspace.
