New violent protests in Kazakhstan

After demonstrations against high gas prices in various cities in Kazakhstan in the past few days, serious riots have now broken out in Almaty.
Almaty - In Kazakhstan in Central Asia there were new violent protests against high gas prices on Wednesday.
In the economic metropolis of Almaty in the south-east of the republic, demonstrators destroyed windows of restaurants, blocked roads and rail connections, as the news website zakon.kz reported.
The security forces used stun grenades.
Pictures showed burned cars.
The military cordoned off the city administration with metal bars.
A state of emergency has been declared in the city.
Already on Wednesday night there had been clashes between violent demonstrators and the police in Almaty.
According to the authorities, 190 people were injured, including 137 police officers.
40 people were taken to hospitals.
The interior ministry of the authoritarian republic spoke in the morning of more than 200 arrests across the country.

According to their own statements, the demonstrators complain about the significantly higher prices for liquefied gas at the filling stations.
Initially, the protest focused only on the city of Shangaosen in the west of the republic.
The demonstrations have now spread to several cities and villages.
As a consequence, the government resigned.
