The U.S. Sundance Film Festival, which was scheduled to open Jan. 20 in Utah, has given up on keeping its events in the flesh due to the spread of the Omicron variant and will again be fully virtual this year, have announced Wednesday January 5 the organizers.

The face-to-face elements of the festival in Utah will take place online this year,
" they lament in a statement, citing "
the surprisingly high transmission rates of the Omicron variant
" of Covid-19 and regretting that they cannot implement "
the hybrid experience
”that they had prepared.
