RKI registers over 10,000 new corona infections in North Rhine-Westphalia

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) registered more than 10,000 new corona infections in North Rhine-Westphalia within one day.
The health authorities of the most populous federal state reported 10 236 new cases within 24 hours, as the RKI announced on Wednesday.
That's 3408 more new cases than a week ago.
The seven-day incidence increases to 233.6 compared to 176.4 a week ago.
Berlin - This is the seventh day increase in a row, with the RKI continuing to assume that new infections will be under-recorded due to fewer tests and reports during the holidays and vacations.
The nationwide value of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days rose to 258.6.

In addition, the RKI registered 41 other deaths in connection with the virus in North Rhine-Westphalia.
Nationwide, Düsseldorf has the highest incidence with 406.9 followed by Wuppertal with 392.4.
The district of Olpe has the lowest incidence with 101.2.
According to data from the NRW State Center for Health, the hospitalization rate is now 2.58 after 2.53 the day before.
This value indicates how many people per 100,000 inhabitants had to be hospitalized within seven days because of a corona infection.
The nationwide value is higher at 3.12.
