Markus Söder will receive an award on February 9th at Europa-Park in Rust.

He gets the "Golden Fool's Bell".

Rust- The Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder * receives the "Golden Fool's Bell" from the Association of Swabian-Alemannic Fools' Guilds (VSAN) this year.

"Probably no other politician got his party friends going more in the past year," said Narren President Roland Wehrle on Tuesday about the election of the new prize winner.

The “Golden Fool's Bell” will be presented on February 9th at Europa-Park in Rust.

Söder is considered to be one of the most colorful, popular, but at the same time controversial personalities of the present, said Wehrle.

Markus Söder: Prime Minister follows in the footsteps of the hit star and soccer coach

The CSU chairman is a friend of carnival, masks and costumes, whose ability to change is also evident in everyday political life.

He has a tendency to provocation and he has a loose tongue.

Even his quick-witted, eloquent language predestined Söder * to face the Swabian-Alemannic fool as a carnival and carnival friend, said Wehrle.

  • Name: Markus Thomas Theodor Söder

  • Born on January 5, 1967 in Nuremberg

  • Prime Minister of Bavaria since March 2018

  • Member of the Bavarian State Parliament since 1994

The fool's bell is not Söder's only award for the “fifth season”: The 54-year-old has already received the Aachen carnival medal “Against the Animal Seriousness” (2016) and the “Franconian Schlappmaulorden” (since 2020).

"The only thing missing is his commitment to the Swabian-Alemannic Carnival," said Wehrle.

The fool's bell, a gold-plated hand bell, has been given annually to a celebrity in Rust since 2006.

Markus Söder: Frank Elstner also won the award once

Last year, the then CDU minister of education and defeated top candidate in the state elections, Susanne Eisenmann, received an award.

The coach of the first division soccer club SC Freiburg, Christian Streich, had previously received the “Golden Fool's Bell”.

Other previous winners include the Prime Minister of Baden-Württemberg Winfried Kretschmann (Greens), the CDU politicians Günther Oettinger and Guido Wolf, TV presenter Frank Elstner and pop singer Tony Marshall.

2022 could be a special year for Söder not only because of the award.

In principle, it could be a fateful year for the Prime Minister *.

It will also be exciting to see how Söder reacts to the MPK on January 7th *.
