During the past year, Al-Baath University in Homs carried out a number of events and activities in various scientific and research fields, in addition to service construction, the most prominent of which was the opening of the university hospital.

The university president, Dr. Abdul Basit al-Khatib, confirmed to SANA reporter that last year witnessed the opening of the university hospital, which is an important tributary of the health sector in Syria, as it contributes to the rehabilitation of students of the Faculty of Medicine and provides medical, surgical and therapeutic services to patients, pointing out also to the opening of the virtual pharmacy at the Faculty of Pharmacy and the educational computer laboratory for hotel and tourism programs In the Faculty of Tourism, in addition to installing a photovoltaic system with a capacity of 200 kilowatts on the roofs of the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.

And he indicated that the university paid attention to research in nanotechnology, as it formed a scientific research team specialized in spreading this culture from several faculties and some research centers at the university to meet with specialists from industrialists, merchants, owners of economic activities, institutions and companies during several scientific days, explaining that about 20 activities were also implemented that included Seminars, conferences, workshops, training courses and scientific days on various topics, 946 master's and doctorate degrees were awarded, and several agreements and memoranda of scientific cooperation were signed.

Al-Khatib stressed that the students were supported and the opportunity was opened to show their multiple talents in addition to their studies, as the university participated in several programming competitions and achieved advanced positions at the national and regional levels, the last of which was the victory of a team from the university in the regional final competitions of the university programming competition in the Arab world and Africa for the year 2021, which was held in Egypt and qualified. To participate in the programming competition

In addition, 5 student projects won a leap project to support graduation projects and move them to the incubation stage and start establishing their creative projects.

Al-Khatib concluded his speech by saying that within the current year's plan, the completion of the block for the buildings of the Faculties of Informatics Engineering and Tourism, the Student Activities Building and the graduation of the first batch of students of the Applied College will be accelerated.
