At the beginning of the year, star lovers can look forward to meteor showers of the Quadrantids, up to 100 falling stars per hour are expected.

Berlin - New Year's Eve is not long over, space fans can look forward to the next twinkle in the sky.

If you want to watch a shooting star in the sky over Germany in the coming days, you sometimes have to stay up late or set an alarm clock directly.

Especially in the night from January 3rd to January 4th, stargazers could get their money's worth, when the high point of the meteor shower of the Quadrantids is to be expected.

The falling stars rain will officially last much longer, up to and including January 10th, sky-gazers should enjoy observing the sky.

Up to a hundred meteors per hour are likely to shoot across the sky, but mostly not until after midnight.

If you want to catch a shooting star, you have to stay up late or set an alarm clock for the second half of the night.

The penetration speed of these shooting stars into the earth's atmosphere is around 40 kilometers per second.
