The Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization decided to send peacekeeping forces to Kazakhstan in response to the request of the Kazakh President to help his country in the face of terrorist threats in his country.
The Russia Today website quoted Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan as saying that the decision to send peacekeeping forces to Kazakhstan came in response to the call of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, leaders of OIC member states, to help his country confront the violent incidents and terrorist gangs that are tampering with it.
Earlier today, Kazakh President Kassym-Jimart Tokayev called on the leaders of the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, led by Russia, to stand by his country in the face of what he described as terrorist aggression by elements trained outside the country.
The Collective Security Treaty Organization includes the Russian Federation, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia and aims to ensure collective security, defend the sovereignty and territories of member states, their independence and unity, military cooperation, and maintain security and peace in the region.
