The arrival, this Thursday, in Paris, of the President of the Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, marks the effective start of the French Presidency of the European Union (PFUE).
The ambitions are important and the priorities numerous to move, as Emmanuel Macron wants it, from this
"Europe of cooperation within our borders to a powerful Europe in the world, fully sovereign, free of its choices".
But the next six months also conceal many pitfalls and unknowns for the president-candidate.
• Ukraine
Normandy format, NATO ministerial, NATO-Russia meeting… The meetings will be linked in the coming days, while Russia has massed more than 100,000 soldiers on the Ukrainian border.
This is additional pressure for Emmanuel Macron.
And perhaps a trap as France holds the presidency of the Council of the EU.
