The country is tightening its restrictions but remains open to the French, who must however have a negative test (PCR of less than 48 hours or antigen of less than 24 hours) on arrival in the country, whether or not they are vaccinated. Unvaccinated people must respect a five-day quarantine at the address indicated on the traceability form; this isolation can be interrupted at the end of this period and after a new negative test. These measures apply from December 16 until at least January 31, 2022.
At the start of 2022, eleven regions are classified in yellow ("moderate risk"): Calabria, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Lazio, Liguria, Lombardy, Marche, Veneto, Piedmont, Sicily, the province Autonomous Region of Bolzano and the Autonomous Province of Trento.
The rest of the country remains in a white zone (“reduced risk”).

All travelers

must complete the Locator Form (Passenger Locator Form digitali - dPLF) which must be completed on the online portal.
The paper form (downloadable in PDF) should only be used in the event of technical difficulty.
Wearing the FFP2 mask is compulsory on any flight to Italy.
The obligation to test depends on the country of origin or residence in the 14 days preceding the trip to Italy (and not on the nationality of the traveler).

Since December 16 and until at least January 31, 2022, vaccinated travelers entering Italy from France (so-called “Elenco C” list available online) must:
Present the
negative result of a test
(antigen less than 24 hours or PCR less than 48 hours), self-tests not being accepted;
AND proof of complete vaccination
with a vaccine recognized by the European Medicines Agency (Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson).
Proof of vaccination is only valid on the condition that it makes it possible to certify the completion of a complete vaccination schedule (14 days after the last injection and maximum 9 months).
The certificate can be presented in French;
OR a certificate of cure
(valid from the 21st day after the first positive test and maximum 6 months).
Unvaccinated travelers must “
respect a five-day quarantine at the address indicated on the traceability form; isolation which can only be interrupted at the end of the five days and after a new negative test

The EU's digital Covid certificate incorporates
proof of vaccination, a negative test result or proof of recovery from Covid within 6 months

Italian certificates (Certificazione verde) and French (health pass via the TousAntiCovid application) are accepted because they meet common European standards.

How are the random checks carried out?
Italian authorities may impose random tests at airports, ports and land borders, including for travelers already vaccinated and tested before boarding.
If it is positive, the passenger will be placed in isolation, then accompanied to a hotel or a Covid home to complete their quarantine.
What are the conditions for children?
No conditions required for children under 6 years old.
From the age of 6, on the other hand,

WHITE, YELLOW, ORANGE OR RED ZONES
Since last year, a decree-law classifies Italian regions into four zones, according to the rate of circulation of the virus: red zone for maximum risk, orange for high risk, yellow for moderate risk and white for reduced risk. .
Travelers are advised to check their status before any trip on the Italian government map as well as on the regional websites.
The placement of a region in one of the four categories is decided by the Minister of Health, taking into account many indicators. As of January 3, 2022, Calabria, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Lazio, Liguria, Lombardy, Marche, Veneto, Piedmont, Sicily, Autonomous Province of Bolzano and Autonomous Province of Trento were classified in yellow ("Moderate risk"). The other regions are in the white zone, where no major restrictions are in force. However,

In the yellow zones, a curfew is in place from midnight to 5 a.m. and bars and restaurants must close at 6 p.m.

HEALTH PASS
To enjoy most of the activities, the health pass is mandatory. It is required from 12 years old for travel by plane or train, indoor restaurants, museums or hotels (complete list of places on the website of the French Embassy in Italy). This system is reinforced for certain activities requiring a
“super sanitary pass
”. It only recognizes people who have received the first dose for a fortnight, those who have been fully vaccinated or recently recovered from Covid. Apart from these cases, a simple test is no longer enough. This concerns access to restaurants, museums, nightclubs, cinemas and concert halls. From January 10, the vaccine pass will be required to access hotels.

The health situation in Italy
