Rural Damascus Governorate launched today a afforestation campaign for sites in the towns of Maaloula, Hosh Nasri and Harasta Highway, with the participation of civil and official activities, and it will last for several days, and includes planting about three thousand plants of olives, palms, coral, cypress, oleander and others.
In a statement to reporters between the Governor of Damascus Countryside, Engineer Moataz Abu Al-Nasr Jamran, that this campaign is a continuation of the activities organized by the governorate on the occasion of the Tree Day and aims to restore the freshness of sites in the towns of Maaloula and Hosh Nasri and beautify the Harasta Highway by reforestation of the green areas on both sides of it leading to the panorama.
The afforestation plan extends in the countryside of Damascus for this season, according to the Director of Agriculture in the countryside of Damascus, Engineer Irfan Ziadeh, on an area of 500 hectares. and burning.
The head of the local council in Maaloula Ibrahim al-Shaer pointed out that the site covered by the campaign overlooks the city and has an area of 10 dunums, indicating that the site is suitable in the future for the establishment of popular cafes for visitors to Maaloula.
For his part, the head of the local council in the suburb of al-Assad, Muhammad Ismail, said that the council provided facilities and mechanisms for the campaign, which is implemented through its workers, while the Directorate of Agriculture provided the plant.
The head of the council in Hosh Nasri, Ibrahim Hamdoush, explained that the afforestation campaign included sidewalks, bisects, and islands in Hosh Nasri and Hosh El Fara, and will continue to complete the cultivation of the areas that were cut down with the aim of restoring the Ghouta vegetables and their sheds.
