Animal rights activists block Hoeneß 'sausage factory - "Uli Hoeneß the very hungry sausages the earth flat"

Animal rights activists protested against the conditions in the meat industry on Uli Hoeneß's birthday in front of the sausage factory he co-founded.

On Wednesday, several activists protested in Nuremberg in front of the HoWe sausage factory, which Uli Hoeneß co-founded - on his 70th birthday.

Nuremberg - soccer manager Uli Hoeneß * celebrates his 70th birthday this Wednesday.

Animal rights activists took this as an opportunity to start a protest in front of Hoeneß's co-founded sausage factory.

With their action, the activists of Animal Rebellion and Extinction Rebellion protested against the conditions in the meat industry.

They criticize that entrepreneurs like Hoeneß “amassed immense wealth on the backs of animals, workers and the environment”.

On Wednesday in front of the plant in Nuremberg *, the participants blamed the meat, egg and milk producers for "cruelty to animals and climate collapse".

Various slogans could be read on the activists' banners.

For example "Closed due to environmental damage" or "Uli Hoeneß very hungry sausages the earth flat".

Around 40 people are involved in the action, as the organizers announced on Twitter.

A post by the activists also states: “We are blocking the two entrances to the site with metal tripods and crate stalls from pig breeding.

The meat factory is closed today due to environmental damage!

Happy Birthday, Uli Hoeneß! ".

According to the police *, however, access to the factory premises is still possible.

Uli Hoeneß recently came under criticism for vegan statements

With their slogans, the activists also alluded to Hoeness statements about vegans a few weeks ago. In an interview with

the soccer manager said: “I still accept a bit of vegetarian, vegan at all because people only get sick over the long term.” He tried to eat vegetarian, but he didn't like “that stuff” Hoeneß explained at the time: "Because everything is in there that shouldn't be in a Nuremberg sausage, namely stabilizers and flavor enhancers." His statements made waves on Twitter *.

According to dpa, HoWe Wurstwaren KG initially did not receive any comments on the campaign.

Uli Hoeneß, the long-standing board member and president of the Bundesliga soccer club FC Bayern *, founded the company in 1985 together with a business partner.

In the meantime, son Florian Hoeneß is the boss of the company, who, according to his own account, produces up to four million Nuremberg sausages * per day.
