A year after the assault on Capitol Hill by Trump supporters, Joe Biden condemned the January 6, 2021 riot as an “
attack on democracy
” and accused the former president of instigating it.
In an unusually vigorous speech, delivered from the Statues Hall, the vast circular hall in the center of the Capitol that the protesters had passed through after forcing the entrance to the building, Biden solemnly recalled the significance of the event that took place. was held on the day when the Congress met in plenary session to certify its election.
