In view of the threat of extreme weather events in the future, such as drought and heavy rain, a climate plan with measures for the state and municipalities is being drawn up in Brandenburg.
"In the end, no climate protection is much more expensive than the cost of the damage," said Environment Minister Axel Vogel (Greens) on Thursday in Potsdam.
Even with a successful reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, climate changes will continue.
Potsdam - In November last year, the cabinet decided to work out a corresponding plan.
According to Vogel, the draft should be available this year and presented to the public.
As one of the first municipalities in the state, the state capital Potsdam has drawn up a heavy rain map for the city area.
According to the information, there have been numerous forest fires or crop failures in Brandenburg since 2018.
In addition, there were 100 heat fatalities in the previous year alone.
