GAP - For the second time, due to the corona, a Dan test to achieve the black belt in the martial art SunMuDo was carried out in the absence of the South Korean grandmaster Jeog-Un-Seol and his monks on behalf of the headmaster of the German SunMuDo-Schule Felsentor eV Axel Zeman (4th Dan) accepted in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. He was supported by Gulabi Erkoc (Taekwondo 5th Dan), Master Lich van Nguyen (Taiji Qi Gong) and Florian Wipfelder (European Champion in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu). In compliance with the Corona hygiene regulations, the test took place on Friday, October 1st. Birgit Jaeckel (41 y.) Was tested.

Their demonstration of the various SunMuDo runs, the Dan run, the Qi Gong forms, kicks and meditation methods as well as the questionnaire on Zen Buddhist knowledge were documented as a video and sent to Golgulsa in South Korea. Only after the grandmaster there recognized the test as passed after examining the videos and released the Dan certificate, this was presented to Birgit Jaeckel in a festive ceremony on December 17th. Axel Zeman put the black belt on her.

Birgit Jaeckel was grateful for the great appreciation given the presence of experienced martial artists on site and via online connection: “I am honored to be supported by those who walk a long way themselves, especially the presence of the masters of other martial arts this evening. I am deeply grateful for that. This appreciation stands once again for the connection that the martial arts path creates - even across different martial arts. The longer we go our way, the more I get the impression that we are moving towards each other. "

Looking back on her experiences as a practitioner and teacher in other disciplines, Jaeckel emphasized that paths like SunMuDo are a step into openness.

“I'm becoming more careful with my judgments,” she says.

It is about always asking yourself questions like those that Master Axel Zeman has chosen as her exam statement.

It reads: “Is that so?” During the subsequent training, which Birgit Jaeckel led for the first time as a black belt, she showed her experience in teaching.
