Destruction once again at the altar of Joshua on Mount Ebal in Samaria: During a recent visit to Mount Ebal by a coalition of organizations for the protection of Israeli antiquities, "Preservers of Eternity" revealed that unknown individuals had destroyed parts of the altar of Joshua ben Nun there. This is another demolition that joins previous demolitions that have been in place over the past year.
A report prepared by the "Eternal Preservation" organization showed the breaking of the walls and the fall of the stones into the altar on its eastern side. Further new damage at the site was found in the northeast corner of the altar where a collapse of the horn of the altar and a collapse at the foot of the structure were seen.
The Samaria Regional Council, whose altar is under its jurisdiction, is very concerned about the systematic demolition of one of the only remains in the world during the settlement period and the entry of the people of Israel into its land more than two thousand years ago, and a rare ritual site of unique scientific value.

The most recent incident joins previous incidents of damage to the site.

The wall stones were shredded to create gravel for paving a road promoted by the Palestinian Authority.
