Iran: The issue of reaching an interim agreement in the Vienna negotiations is not on the table

An informed source close to the Iranian negotiating team in Vienna confirmed that the issue of reaching a temporary agreement during the current talks in the Austrian capital between Iran and the Four Plus One Group is not on the table.

In a statement to the Iranian news agency IRNA, the source said that the speculations about the meeting in Vienna between the Iranian Foreign Ministry's Assistant for Political Affairs Ali Bagheri Kani and his South Korean counterpart Choi Jang Kan, and the possibility of reaching a temporary agreement during the Vienna talks, comes within the framework of psychological warfare by the western side. .

The source added that this meeting discussed issues related to bilateral relations, including the frozen Iranian assets in South Korea, stressing that “the issue of the temporary agreement is not on the table, and this speculation helps the western side to increase pressure on Iran.”

It is noteworthy that there are Iranian debts on South Korea worth about 8 billion dollars in connection with its purchase of gas condensate from Iran, but for illogical reasons it does not pay these debts under the pretext of the US embargo, which was criticized by Iranian officials.

The Austrian capital, Vienna, is witnessing intensive preparations to complete the eighth round of nuclear talks between Iran and the Four Plus One group, with the aim of reviving the nuclear agreement that the United States unilaterally exited in 2018.
