We already know this, but it has once again received a scientific seal: the Mediterranean "diet", based on a diet of fruits, vegetables, legumes, olive oil and more, was chosen, for the fifth time in a row, the healthiest and most recommended diet in the world among dozens tested.
27 experts and nutritionists examined for "US News & World Report" forty kitchens and diets from around the world according to a long list of categories and unequivocally determined that the Mediterranean diet is the healthiest of all possible kitchens.
This is what CNN reports, noting that "this is a diet that has a winning streak that simply will probably not stop."
The various parameters examined by the experts included, among other things: how easy it is to follow the diet, what are the chances that in this way the person will lose weight significantly in both the short and long term, how effective this diet is in preventing vascular disease, heart and diabetes. Having nutritional integrity, that is, it allows for a balance between proteins, carbohydrates and other nutrients that are necessary for a person.
Unsurprisingly, the three best diets are about determining what a person is allowed to eat, ie what he should focus on and not what he should not eat.

Gretel Schuler, Head of Health at U.S.
News & World Report, explained in an interview with CNN that "In this era of the Corona, when we are banned from doing a lot of things anyway, positive diets that deal with what we are allowed to greatly make it easier for the person. What we want today is food we can enjoy, but also health. "And maybe even help our physical immunity against the virus. In that sense, the top diets offer just that."
As mentioned, the first place is the Mediterranean diet, the second place is taken by the flap diet and the respectable third place went to the "flexible diet" which allows flexibility in the menu with the option to eat the adults from time to time.
In terms of principles in Mediterranean cuisine, experts point out that it includes simple vegetable-based cooking, with most of the meal based on fruits and vegetables, whole grains, beans and seeds, with a few nuts and a strong emphasis on excellent extra virgin olive oil.
Fats other than olive oil, such as butter, are rarely consumed, if at all, and sugar and refined foods are reserved for special occasions.
In the same way, the experts point out that the use of red meat is only sparse, usually as a spice for a dish, while on the other hand there is great encouragement to eat fish full of omega-3s.
Eggs, dairy products and chicken are also eaten, although they are not the center of the dish in contrast to the usual Western cuisine.
It is interesting to note that the experts also see in the way of eating itself an advantage i.e. family eating or one that has a lot of participants, a reality that includes conversation, socializing, and mobility during the meal.

With respect to these points, experts point out that beyond this very healthy form of eating, many studies have found that the Mediterranean diet can reduce the risk of diabetes, high cholesterol, dementia, memory loss, depression and breast cancer.
The diet, which is more of an eating style than a restricted diet, has also been linked to stronger bones, a healthier heart and a longer life.
