Tuesday evening was by no means a normal one at the OMV station in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Around 8 p.m. there was an attack.

There are pictures of the perpetrator on the surveillance camera, and he also met two passers-by on the street.

The police are now urgently looking for these two pedestrians.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen

- It's every petrol station owner's nightmare: a robbery.

Often these crimes no longer happen, "because a gas station robbery never pays off," says Alexander Huber, press spokesman for the Upper Bavaria South Police Headquarters in Rosenheim.

Who still pays for their fuel with cash these days?

In addition, a criminal threatens a severe sentence: "A prison sentence of not less than three years", Huber quotes the code.

And yet: On Tuesday evening there was another attack in Garmisch-Partenkirchen after a long time.

Apparently a young man entered the OMV gas station on Zugspitzstrasse shortly after 8 p.m. and threatened the gas station attendant with a knife.

He asked for the cash to be returned.

He then fled on foot in the direction of the town center / Marienplatz.

The booty: “In the three-digit range,” emphasizes Huber.

And yet the process fulfills the criteria of an armed robbery, as the perpetrator threatened the woman in the shop with a knife.

The police immediately launched a large-scale manhunt for the stranger.

With all available forces, including officers of the federal police, the surrounding area was combed - to no avail.

Perpetrator around 25 years old, speaks German with an accent, probably Turkish

The police still have hope of being able to possibly convict the perpetrator.

On the one hand, there are the recordings from the surveillance camera of the petrol station shop, which show the man doing what he did.

There is also a description of the robbery victim: According to this, it was allegedly a man around 25 years old, around 1.75 meters tall and weighing around 85 kilograms.

The man spoke German, albeit with an accent, probably with a Turkish twist.

He wore tight-fitting dark pants, a dark sweater and black shoes.

He hid his face behind a black cloth mask.

Video surveillance shows a scene: robber meets two pedestrians

In addition to this description, it is also known that the man ran into two passers-by on the sidewalk in front of the adjacent Edeka supermarket while he was fleeing. “Probably there even without his mask,” says Huber. The police cannot say that exactly. “But he avoided them across the street.” The criminal police officers became aware of the two pedestrians through video surveillance images. “The camera also records this part of the street,” says the police spokesman. The big drawback, however, is that it is not known who the two passers-by who met the gas station robber were. "Of course we hope that they can report to the police and remember the scene," says Huber. Therefore, he again refers to the time of the crime: last Tuesday evening shortly after 8 p.m.

The police are always looking for witnesses to the incident: Anyone who has made suspicious observations around the area at the specified time should report to the inspection in Garmisch-Partenkirchen as soon as possible - directly or by telephone on 0 88 21/91 70.
