Opinion | I'm afraid my son will be hit by a stray bullet too Israel today

2022-01-06T23:20:21.834Z

Along with the fact that many of the Arab citizens of Israel are graduates of academia, the vast majority of criminals and murderers are from the sector.

Once, twenty-thirty years ago, the parents' hope in the Arab communities was that their son on his way from school would not be hit by a car, since almost all the Arab communities had no sidewalks, guardrails or traffic lights.

Today, after I became the father of a soft one-and-a-half-month-old baby, my fear and apprehension is in what frame he will grow up and whether he will be hit by a stray bullet in my home, car or in the middle of the street that a criminal, or rather a terrorist, decides in revenge on someone in the space I am in.

This is a scenario that deprives me of sleep and I am not alone.

Many of the country's Arab citizens fear that they will pay the heaviest price as a result of rising crime and crime, which in the meantime is neither deterrent nor overpowering.

True, not all Arabs in the State of Israel are criminals and murderers but unfortunately the rabbi, and I write this as an Arab citizen proud of belonging to this public, but out of great pain, fear and apprehension - the vast majority of criminals and murderers in Israel are Arabs.

How does this figure reconcile with the large percentage of young Arabs who are academics, doctors, lawyers, judges and lecturers?

The answer is obvious - the Arabs in the State of Israel have lost a great deal of their identity.

They are not Israelis in the full sense of the word and they are not Arabs or Palestinians in the full sense of the word.

This is what created a huge vacuum into which the criminals entered.

The shocking incident that took place in the village of Bir al-Maksur is not the first.

There have been a number of cases in which children, infants and women have lost their lives whose whole sin - to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The life of an Arab citizen is too cheap.

At least this is what the statistics of the Israel Police prove in everything related to the deciphering efforts of the murders.

The argument about the lack of cooperation on the part of the Arabs is not a correct argument, it is not fair and it is not appropriate for a body like the Israeli police to make it - because when the police and intelligence agencies want, they have already proven they can.

However, although we have witnessed the police stepping up their efforts in recent months, the resounding failures still outweigh the successes.

What is more, the shootings, murders and crimes take place on the fringes of the State of Israel, the geographical fringes in the north, in the south and in the Arab localities, on the social fringes and on the political fringes.

I should not think too much about what would have happened to the entire State of Israel if the three-year-old boy, the victim of the shooting, had been from Tel Aviv.

Although we have not yet reached the peak of crime in Arab society, the final solution will not be by the Israel Police, because it is an enforcement body that trusts personal security.

The problem and the solution begin with a proper and good education for those whose path is very close to the world of crime and are within touching distance of it
